Dexter Woods is a J.D. candidate at Georgetown University Law Center. Originally from Murfreesboro, TN, he went to college in Nashville at Lipscomb University. There he majored in Classical Piano and Political Science.While in undergrad, his coursework focused on International Affairs, National Security, and International Trade. He focused his research on Chinese Economic Policies and the Political Economies ofSub-Saharan African states. After graduating summa cum laude, he lived abroad in Shanghai, China.

While living in China, he worked at a Shanghai public school where he taught English to middle schoolers. Apart from traveling the country and experiencing the vibrant culture, he built up his Mandarin-Chinese language speaking capability. This interest in China led him to pursue an internship with the International Trade Administration’s Office of China and Mongolia. While interning, he applied his language skills by analyzing Chinese policies relevant to US-China trade and drafting reports on howChinese policies impacted international trade. He also (remotely) assisted the US Shanghai Consulate with internal affairs. While at Georgetown, Dexter anticipates earning the Certificate in WTO & International Trade Studies and focusing his research on issues related to US-China trade.

Dexter is also a transfer student, who completed his first year coursework at Tulane University LawSchool. After a successful first year, he transferred to GULC. Apart from his role as an IIEL Fellow, he is also the Assistant Administrative Editor of the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal. In his free time, he enjoys long distance trail runs, vegan and vegetarian cooking, spicy margaritas, and an evening at the Kennedy Center with the National Symphony Orchestra.
