Fellows will have the opportunity to be involved in various conferences and programs, research opportunities, and writing opportunities, throughout their time on campus. These opportunities offer students the ability to network with practitioners and scholars in a variety of specialized fields within the transnational business law space and further learning outside of the traditional classroom experience. Prior conferences and programs include:

• Conferences: In prior years, CTBL organized and sponsored one or two day-long conferences. Topics have included: Economic Sanctions, Transnational Business Corruption, the UNCITRAL Convention on the International Sale of Goods, UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts, Corporate Social Responsibility and Litigation under the Alien Tort Statute, Current Challenges in U.S. Trade Policy, the Use and Misuse of Financial and Trade Sanctions, Privacy and Personal Data Protection in Trans-border Commercial Contexts, Transparency in International Arbitration, and Issues for Litigators under the Hague Service Convention.
• CTBL Blog: CTBL Fellows have written short articles on important timely issues affecting transnational business that have been published on the CTBL Blog. Each Fellow is expected to write at least one blog article during the year.
• IBEL Series: In the past, the Center has organized the IBEL Series on hot topics in international trade, international dispute resolution, international financial restructuring and bankruptcy, and transnational business corruption.
• Careers in International Law Series: For the past several years, CTBL has organized a series of programs highlighting different career opportunities, including international business compliance, project finance, infrastructure and project finance, and evolving business obligations involving Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards.
• Public Programming: CTBL has assisted the OAS Department of International Law on several public programs, one regarding “the OAS Guide to Applicable Law in International Commercial Contracts,” a second on “Cross-Border Electronic Warehouse Receipts,” and the third on “International Food Security.
• We have also hosted public meetings of the Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee on Private International Law and of the Sanctions Subcommittee of the Department of State’s Advisory Committee on International Economic Policy.
• Research: CTBL has recently concluded a project in sales of assets in cross-border insolvencies working with the International Transactions Task Force of the Committee on Negotiated Acquisitions of the American Bar Association, Business Law Section.
