Zachi Elias is joining CICS as part of the Youth for Tomorrow Fellowship. He is a high school student in Washington, D.C., and plans to study history in college. He created Housing Our Stories(This link opens in a new tab), an oral history project documenting the experiences of D.C. residents in diverse housing environments. Zachi also developed an award-winning 9-minute documentary on the Freedom of Information Act. Zachi believes that preserving memory can be a form of justice, especially when it brings attention to overlooked voices. Through this fellowship, he is excited to collaborate on a multimedia project that honors survivors’ oral histories and promotes education and advocacy on gun violence prevention. He also enjoys soccer, chess, and spending time with family and friends.
