Josh Galst headshotJosh Galst, J.D., is a CICS Legal Fellow and graduate of Georgetown Law. Josh is from Los Angeles, CA, and earned his B.A in political science from San Diego State University, and therefore he has not quite adjusted to the East Coast humidity.

Josh has focused his educational career on criminal justice reform, with a particular focus on addressing the harms of policing and prisons. During law school, Josh worked for a number of justice-oriented organizations, where he assisted in combating the residual harms stemming from mass incarceration. Josh also was a student attorney in Georgetown’s Civil Rights Clinic, where he helped litigate a complex ยง1983 claim on behalf of an incarcerated pretrial detainee. Alongside his professional career, Josh is a staunch advocate for causes of personal significance, and tries to remain involved in political and social organizing. He hopes to embody his passion for systems-wide transformative change into his current and future work as an attorney.

In his free time, you can find Josh playing a game with friends, rock climbing at the gym, hanging out with his cat, Mayday. He is very glad to be joining the important work at CICS as a Legal Fellow!
