Deborah Wey
Deborah is from Charlotte, North Carolina and comes from a big, Nigerian family. She attended Georgetown University and graduated with honors in Culture and Politics, Spanish, and African Studies. She previously worked with Georgetown Jumpstart, running supplemental curricula to help children in DC’s Wards 7 and 8 further develop their social-emotional skills. She also worked with Advocates for Youth as a Youth Organizer on projects pertaining to reproductive justice for people of color, and recently became a certified abortion doula.
Inspired by personal experiences and the organizers in her community, Deborah is extremely passionate about advancing reproductive justice and centering her future career around working with and supporting survivors of systemic and interpersonal abuse.
In her free time, Deborah likes reading and sewing. Outside of class, she enjoys spending time with her cat, Willow, her girlfriend, and friends. She also loves watching movies and searching for the next niche pop culture fact she can tell other people about.
