Kyle was raised in Tucson, Arizona where he graduated from the University of Arizona in 2022 with Bachelors of Arts in Economics, Political Science, and Spanish. Growing up in Tucson exposed Kyle to the real-world effects of border politics and policy and gave him a love for cross-cultural collaboration. In his undergraduate program, Kyle studied international relations with Latin America, conflict resolution mechanisms for national crises, and he worked with several advocacy groups that provided direct legal services to asylum seekers and refugees coming to Arizona.

After graduating from the UofA, Kyle worked as an Operations Manager at Casa Alitas, an emergency shelter for asylum seekers released from Border Patrol in the Tucson community en route to their final destinations all over the US. In Kyle’s time at Casa Alitas, the number of guests coming through the shelter on a daily basis grew from 50 per day, to over 1800. The work included mental and physical health crisis management, large-scale logistical operations, and leadership of a highly dedicated staff team. Casa Alitas taught Kyle the importance of balancing effective and sizable systems with interpersonal care and human dignity. Kyle became interested in law school when he led a tour of Georgetown faculty through the shelter system and the group spent time imagining the possibilities of change and transformation in the US immigration system.

Kyle hopes to use his JD for direct legal services for migrants in Arizona, and hopefully impact systems of immigration in the United States for humanitarian good. Kyle is excited to continue learning in Law School and is thankful for the educational and visional opportunities at GULC!
