HJA Research Assistant Position Opening

The Georgetown University Health Justice Alliance (HJA) seeks a year-long Research Assistant to support its research and evaluation projects across its education and service initiatives. The HJA is an academic medical-legal partnership training the next generation of health, law, and policy leaders to work together in pursuit of health justice as they provide holistic care to communities underserved by health and justice systems in D.C.

Position Responsibilities:

The research assistant will help implement mixed methods evaluation protocols to demonstrate the impact of HJA’s medical-legal partnerships in perinatal and cancer settings, as well as HJA’s interprofessional education efforts. Tasks include:

  • Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings in the form of annotated bibliographies, fact sheets, and one-pagers
  • Organize and maintain database of peer-reviewed literature relevant to HJA
  • Assist with survey distribution and data collection
  • Analyze program data and create quarterly dashboards and monthly reports
  • Assist with the preparation of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for submission to conferences and peer-reviewed journals

Supervision:

The Research Assistant will work closely with HJA Director of Operations, Lisa Kessler, and HJA Director of Research & Evaluation and Research Professor, Dr. Deborah F. Perry. Weekly check-ins will be held over Zoom. HJA prioritizes student mentorship and co-authorship on peer reviewed manuscripts.

Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong commitment to health and racial equity and social justice
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Coursework in health equity and and health systems preferred
  • Ability to conduct basis data analysis in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Qualtrics and Canva preferred
  • Summer and subsequent academic year commitment strongly preferred

Duration:

June 2026-May 2027 (Preference is for June start date to overlap with current RA for training, but we can potentially accommodate an August start. Option for rising juniors to extend an additional year through May 2028.)

Credit/Compensation:

HJA offers the opportunity for students to complete this opportunity as a Georgetown University Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program project. Students will also be paid $17.95 per hour, and the position is FWS-eligible.

Work Mode:

This position can be done remotely, however students must be living on campus or in the DMV area.
