Will you make a gift today to support a graduating student?

In response to the extremely difficult job market that graduating law students currently face, we have launched an emergency fundraising campaign to hire an additional Georgetown Law graduate as a fellow.

You can help by making an online gift today at this link. All donations received between now and July 30 will go towards this fund.

In the current political environment, many Georgetown Law students and recent graduates, including some who have worked with the Privacy Center, are struggling to find jobs. This is especially true for those who want to pursue public interest careers.

Training the next generation of privacy advocates is a key part of our mission, and we have a great track record of launching careers in our field. Our fellows are fully integrated into all aspects of the Privacy Center’s work, building their skills in interdisciplinary critical thinking, statutory and regulatory analysis, legal research and writing as well as communicating to nonlegal audiences, policymaking and advocacy, facility with foundational concepts in privacy and surveillance law and policy, and a variety of other areas.

We can’t do this without your support! What many of you probably don’t know is that while our home is at Georgetown, we do not receive funding from the university. All our funding comes from foundations, cy pres settlements or donations. To maintain the integrity of our research, we do not accept money from corporations.

If we can raise $50,000, the Law Center’s Office of Public Interest and Community Service will provide matching funds so we can recruit a Georgetown Law graduate for a one year fellowship. Every dollar you give brings us closer to unlocking those additional funds and supporting a Hoya Lawya.

Your gift will go directly to supporting young public interest-minded lawyers in this challenging job market, while also building the Center’s capacity to fight for privacy at a moment when it is more crucial than ever!
