Enacted to protect the privacy and security of electronic communications, including from overbroad government surveillance, ECPA looks much the same today as it did four decades ago, despite seismic advances in technology and its widespread adoption.

Featuring leading scholars, practitioners, and former government officials, the program will explore how courts and policymakers are applying a law written for an earlier era of communications and outline specific updates needed to modernize it and keep it vital for decades ahead.
