Google Search: A View from the Counsel’s Table

October 8, 2025

Jonathan Sallet, lead litigator for the state plaintiffs in the landmark U.S. v. Google search antitrust case, joined a recent talk at the Georgetown Institute for Technology Law and Policy.

During the presentation, Mr. Sallet broke down the trial, remedies issued by the court, and broader implications for competition and innovation.

The US v. Google case put a spotlight on Google’s anti-competitive practices to maintain its illegal monopoly in online search, including its annual multi-billion-dollar payments to distributors like Apple, Samsung, and Mozilla, that secured Google the default search engine spot on nearly every mobile device and much of the desktop browser market.
