Law & Policy Hackathon
March 14, 2026
Join Us for Georgetown Law’s First-Ever Law & Policy Hackathon
The Institute for Technology Law & Policy will host its first Law & Policy Hackathon on March 14, 2026. The competition reflects the Institute’s commitment to ensuring that legal education evolves alongside artificial intelligence. Developed in collaboration with the Georgetown AI in the Legal Practice Initiative and in cooperation with Paul Hastings LLP and Midpage(This link opens in a new tab), the Hackathon brings together law students from across the DMV to tackle a timely challenge at the intersection of AI and privacy regulation. Working in teams, participants craft rigorous, actionable policy proposals and present them to a jury of practitioners, scholars, and policymakers.
As AI technologies transform how data is collected, analyzed, and governed, regulatory frameworks are being tested in real time. Lawyers entering the profession must be prepared not only to interpret existing doctrine, but to think creatively and strategically about how the law should evolve. The Hackathon reflects this reality: collaborative, high-energy, and impact-driven. Participants blend doctrinal analysis with policy design and responsible AI use, gaining hands-on experience in turning complex legal questions into practical, forward-looking solutions.
Conceived by Georgetown Tech Law & Policy LL.M. candidates Anne and Asif, the Hackathon is part of a broader effort to strengthen leadership in technology law and policy. Through sustained collaboration and community support, it aims to become a lasting forum for advancing responsible AI governance at Georgetown Law and in Washington, D.C.
