Microsoft Orientation Event

August 19, 2025

Alonzo Barber speaks to students who are sitting around a table.

The Institute for Technology Law & Policy kicked off orientation week at Georgetown Law with a visit to Microsoft’s DC office.

Our Tech Law Scholars and interested incoming students had the chance to hear from Alonzo Barber (L’06), Microsoft’s Head of IP Strategy, Licensing, and Acquisition. His career has spanned nuclear submarines, entertainment law, and now shaping IP strategy at one of the world’s most innovative companies.

Alonzo shared lessons on adapting to client needs, thriving in fast-changing industries, and making the most of your time at Georgetown.

We’re grateful for his insights, and very excited to welcome such a curious and thoughtful cohort of new students into the world of tech law!
