Chance Goddard
Chance Goddard (they/them) is the Georgetown AI and the Legal Profession (GAILP) Student Researcher at the Institute for Technology Law & Policy.
Chance Goddard (they/them) is a Researcher with the Georgetown AI in the Legal Profession (GAILP) Initiative. Chance is also a Tech Law & Policy Scholar at Georgetown
University Law Center, where they pursue a J.D. alongside a Doctor of Information Technology (D.I.T.) in AI & Educational Technology. Their research has centered on the ethical and equitable use of AI for human performance improvement and education.
Chance brings a background in instructional design to their work with the GAILP Initiative, holding a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Southern California and prior experience as a Senior Instructional Designer at Kaiser Permanente. They are excited to apply this expertise to evaluate how legal education can evolve to meet the profession’s growing use of AI by lawyers, judges, firms, clients, and other legal actors.
While at Georgetown, Chance has served as a student attorney with the Intellectual Property and Information Policy Clinic, advising clients on strategic engagement with AI-related litigation involving privacy, intellectual property, and content moderation.
Also an artist, Chance performed in Broadway’s The Book of Mormon and recently exhibited work in Georgetown’s “AI in Art: Perceptions, Values, & Rights” showcas
