Class of 2029

Anh-Thu Lam is a J.D. candidate in the evening program at Georgetown University Law Center and a Tech Law & Policy Scholar. She is also a Scientific Advisor in the Life Sciences practice group at Rothwell Figg, where she brings more than 15 years of experience spanning biomedical research and regulatory science to support intellectual property strategy and litigation involving complex biomedical technologies.

Before pursuing law, Anh-Thu trained as a biomedical scientist, earning her Ph.D. in Human Genetics and Molecular Biology from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, with research focused on genetic modifiers of cystic fibrosis. She later completed postdoctoral research in the Department of Genetic Medicine at Johns Hopkins, using CRISPR/Cas9-based genomic approaches to investigate the functional impact of schizophrenia-associated genetic variants.

Prior to transitioning into intellectual property, Anh-Thu served as an expert consultant supporting the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Office of New Drugs. In this role, she led safety data review planning for IND and NDA submissions, performed statistical analyses, and contributed to regulatory documents supporting therapeutic product evaluations. Her work at the FDA strengthened her understanding of the role that scientific evidence and regulatory frameworks play in advancing biomedical innovation.

Her legal interests center on the intersection of biotechnology innovation and intellectual property, with a focus on how legal and regulatory frameworks influence the development of emerging biomedical technologies, including genomic medicine and precision therapeutics.

Anh-Thu earned her B.S. in Biochemistry and B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Vermont, where she was a member of the Honors College.
