Bhawna MotwaniClass of 2026

Bhawna is a Technology Law and Policy Scholar and J.D. Candidate at Georgetown Law, interested in working at the intersection of technology, ethics, and law. Currently, her specific focus is on addressing the governance issues posed by artificial intelligence (AI), with an emphasis on policy research for mitigating the adverse societal impact of generative AI technologies. A physicist by training, Bhawna was born and brought up in India, where she obtained a dual bachelor’s and master’s degree in physics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Prior to attending Georgetown Law, Bhawna performed doctoral research in computational astrophysics at the California Institute of Technology, Columbia University, and the Flatiron Institute.

In her leisure time, Bhawna enjoys reading plays, tending her organic vegetable garden, and attending live theatre. She is also fond of traveling and seeks the occasional adrenaline rush from adventure sports.
