Class of 2025

Cecile Duncan is a first-generation college student who graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia in 2015 with an A.B.J. in Public Relations and a certificate in Music Business. She finished first in her class at UGA’s Grady College of Journalism & Mass Communication and served as the Distinguished Senior Orator at convocation. After college, Cecile built a seven-year-long career in the music industry, culminating in a role managing the radio department at Merge Records, an independent record label in Durham, North Carolina. During her time at Merge, she also took on digital promotions duties, partnering with Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, YouTube Music, and other digital service providers to secure playlisting placements and other immersive opportunities on streaming platforms for artists on the label.

Cecile is originally from Daisy, Georgia, a rural town with a population of 200, and, along with her experience representing artists outside of the major label paradigm, her roots in an area that still lacks meaningful access to the Internet inspired her return to law school to facilitate and leverage the use of technology for communities that need it most. Outside of her work and studies, Cecile enjoys running, reading short story collections, watching ’70s films, and walking her eight-pound, eight-year-old Maltipoo.
