Class of 2028

Katerina (Katya) Shmorhun is a J.D. candidate and Tech Law Scholar at Georgetown University Law Center. Her academic and professional interests focus on intellectual property, privacy, and emerging technologies. During the summer of 2026, she was a law clerk with the Texas Civil Rights Project, working on habeas petitions with their Beyond Borders team. She is currently a research assistant for Professors Madhavi Sunder and Cathy Hwang.

Katya graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College, Columbia University, where she studied art history and political science. During college, she worked in the contemporary art market in New York, including at Gagosian and 56 Henry Gallery. Prior to law school, Katya worked as an Intellectual Property, Technology Transactions, and Entertainment paralegal at Paul, Weiss in New York.

Originally from Austin, Texas, Katya enjoys playing tennis, visiting art museums, spending time with loved ones, and cooking.
