Seung (Sophia) Kim is a Tech Law & Policy Scholar passionate about exploring how the law shapes technological innovation in the life sciences, as well as its broader impact on public and global healthcare regulatory systems. She currently serves as President of the Student Intellectual Property Law Association and Vice President of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association.

Before law school, Sophia worked in life sciences consulting in Boston, advising biotech start-ups and Fortune 500 pharmaceutical companies on commercial and clinical strategies. Her work spanned a wide range of emerging technologies like cell/gene therapies, and focused on rare diseases, oncology, and neuropsychiatric disorders. From developing clinical trial design strategies to collaborating with global payer and regulatory bodies on drug pricing and reimbursement, Sophia gained a deep understanding of the drug development process. She aims to build on these experiences to explore how the law can protect and foster scientific innovation at every stage of development.

Sophia graduated with a degree in Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania, where she conducted and published research on neurological receptors involved in nicotine and ethanol addiction. Originally from Michigan, she enjoys running, playing tennis, and finding the best carrot cake recipe in her free time.
