Ava graduated with Distinction from the University of Virginia (UVA) in 2019 where she double majored in Spanish and Global Environments and Sustainability. While at UVA, she spent a semester in Buenos Aires studying Political Science and Argentine Studies, and has also traveled to Cuba to study sustainability. For her senior Capstone she conducted research on decentralized renewable energy systems in the Andean Amazon. Ava is committed to advancing community-driven, equitable environmental and social change in low-income, multilingual and multicultural settings.

After graduating, Ava was a Princeton in Latin America Fellow in Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala, where she worked as a Program Developer for an Indigenous-led environmental non-profit. She has also interned with non-profits both in the U.S. and in the U.K focused on conservation, energy access, and environmental justice. Ava comes to Georgetown after working in the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Office of Management, Budget, Policy, and Performance as a Management Analyst. While there, she had the opportunity to work on USAID’s climate portfolio.

Building on these experiences, Ava aspires to build a career as a lawyer specializing in international laws, negotiations, regulations, and sustainable development policies. Ava is fluent in Spanish and possesses basic Portuguese competency, which she will continue improving while at Georgetown. In her free time she enjoys hiking, traveling, playing soccer, and experimenting with different coffee brewing methods.
