The Journal of National Security Law and Policy 2025 Annual Symposium – Gun Violence and National Security: Redefining the Threat, will take place on Wednesday, March 19, from 3:00  7:00 p.m. on the 9th floor of 500 1st.

This year’s symposium will feature two substantive panels and a keynote presentation to discuss the nature of internal national security threats posed by gun violence and the importance of addressing them now and in the future. The substantive panels are tentatively titled The National Security Threats Posed by Gun Violence and Policy and Legal Solutions to the Threat of Gun Violence to National Security. The first panel will provide a forum for discussing key national security challenges of domestic gun violence, including mass shootings, armed extremism, and cross-border gun trafficking. The second panel will focus on how reframing the issue as a national security threat will impact potential policy solutions, with special attention paid to the role of the Second Amendment.
