Professor Cuviello is an Adjunct Professor of Law who teaches a seminar on Pretrial Skills for Intellectual Property Litigation. He is also a partner at Banner Witcoff, Ltd., where he represents clients in various aspects of intellectual property matters. This includes patent prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, pre-suit investigations, trials before the USPTO Patent Trials and Appeal Board and district courts, as well as appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. His practice particularly focuses on high-tech industries such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, green energy power systems, wireless communications, and micro-electronic manufacturing equipment. Additionally, he served on the firm’s Board of Directors from 2019 to 2025, providing strategic direction and overseeing the firm’s day-to-day operations.
Professor Cuviello earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to becoming an intellectual property attorney, he worked for 15 years as an engineer for various government agencies and in the private sector, including NASA, where he developed many of the technologies he now protects for his clients.
