Rio Wakura
Rio is a first-year law student and a member of Cohort 9 in the Business Law Scholars Program. Rio is interested in practicing M&A in New York.
On campus, she is involved as a Member in the Corporate & Financial Law Organization, First Generation Student Union, Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, and Korean American Law Student Association.
Background
Prior to law school, Rio graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a degree in Business Economics and a minor in Accounting.
During this time, she was a writer at the Daily Bruin and Her Campus at UCLA, where she served as a senior editor for two years. She was also involved in various student organizations, including Global Research and Consulting Group at UCLA, where she worked on three 10-week consulting projects each school year.
She interned at various organizations including Chuo Sogo Law Office in Osaka, Japan; Besa Mi Vino in Los Angeles; Deloitte in Los Angeles, and Cartier in Tokyo, Japan. After graduation, she was a Marketing Intern at Tyger Fit Lab in New York.
This summer, Rio will be a Judicial Intern at the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Next summer, she will be joining Winston & Strawn in the New York office.
Beyond Law School
Rio is from Osaka, Japan. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, shopping, going to the gym, and pilates.
