Juliet J. McKenna has served as a judge on the District of Columbia Superior Court since 2002, both as a Magistrate Judge and, following her appointment in 2005, as an Associate Judge. She has sat in the Criminal Division, where she was the Deputy and Presiding Judge from 2018 to 2021, as well as the Family Court, Civil and Domestic Violence Divisions. Prior to joining the bench, Judge McKenna worked for the Office of the Attorney General, prosecuting civil child abuse and neglect cases, and for a nonprofit organization representing children in the foster care system. Judge McKenna is returning as an Adjunct Professor, having previously taught Child Welfare Law and Practice in the District of Columbia from 2012 to 2014. A graduate of Georgetown University and Yale Law School, Judge McKenna returned to the classroom to earn her Professional Certificate in Restorative Justice from Vermont Law School in 2024.
