Edward Khatchatrian

Edward Khatchatrian is a J.D. candidate who grew up in the Boston area. He graduated summa cum laude from Boston University with degrees in international relations and political science. At Boston University, Edward was an active member of the International Relations Review journal. Focusing on the former Soviet Union, Edward authored and edited numerous articles on conflicts, arms proliferation, border demarcation, and trade. He also served as President of the Armenian Students’ Association where he increased membership, introduced more cultural events, and raised money for Armenian refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh.

As a child of immigrants, Edward’s background contributed to his global awareness from a young age. This awareness, along with a desire to engage in challenging yet impactful work, led him to pursue numerous opportunities around the world in addition to his studies and university activities. In conjunction with his studies, Edward interned in Congress and later at a lobbying firm in Washington, D.C., studied abroad and interned in an intergovernmental think tank in Geneva, Switzerland, and completed a human rights-focused internship in Yerevan, Armenia. These experiences, coupled with extensive world travel, led him to see the importance of cross-border connectivity and cooperation.

At Georgetown, Edward plans to study international trade, sanctions, and export control law with the intention of working in that field. In addition to his professional interests, Edward enjoys discussing current events with friends, reading, traveling, going to art and history museums, as well as trying cuisines from different countries.
