Opened in September 2004 and named after Scott K. Ginsburg (L’78) in September 2015, the Sport and Fitness Center provides a full complement of athletic experiences, giving students, faculty, and alumni the opportunity to exercise without having to leave the campus.
A four-lane lap pool and men’s and women’s locker rooms with massage rooms and whirlpools are on the first floor of the Sports and Fitness Center. The second floor contains athletic offices and bookstore, as well as comfortable seating and study areas. The third and fourth floors hold two group exercise studios, one spinning studio, two racquetball courts, 8,400 square feet of multi-purpose court space for basketball and volleyball, and a range of cardiovascular machines and weights. Group exercise classes are held daily, and the staff can assist you in forming your own individualized workout plans.
Membership to the Sports and Fitness Center is completely free for all Georgetown Law students. Faculty, staff, alumni, and spouses are eligible to join at an affordable monthly rate.
Main (Second) Level
The spacious main level of the Sports and Fitness Center often plays host to a variety of events and receptions. Since the entire building supports wireless internet, you will find students relaxing or studying in between classes,
Also located on the main level is the Law Campus Bookstore. Textbooks, apparel, electronics, and other school spirited items are available for purchase.
All members of the Sports and Fitness Center have access to the four-lane lap pool on the First Level of the building. The pool is free for use at any time unless there is a class in progress. Towel service is included for all members, and locker rooms are available on this level equipped with lockers, showers, bathrooms, and whirlpools. Members will also be pleased to find that there are two massage rooms available on this level.
Members interested in cardiovascular and strength training will find themselves drawn to the Third Level of the Sports and Fitness Center. There you will find treadmills, ellipticals, Stairmasters, Precor, upright and recumbent bicycles, concept II rowers, and Cybex ARC trainers. Those interested in strength training will be able to take advantage of Cybex and Nautilus equipment as well as free weights. Plasma TVs line the ceiling, and most cardiovascular equipment is outfitted with Cardio Vision.
Two group exercise studios as well as one indoor cycling studio can be found on the Third Level. Several classes are available, for free, all day long — yoga, bosu cardio funk, spinning, boxing, and kick boxing to name a few.
The fourth and final level is home to the 8,400 square feet of multi-purpose space for basketball and volleyball. Two racquetball courts are available for member use, and an outdoor patio is available for students to relax or study.
