Arian is a J.D. Candidate,Arian Zand RISE fellow, and Business Law Scholar at Georgetown Law. He studies how entrepreneurship, public policy and competitive markets can ensure social inclusion and economic prosperity. His practice areas of interest include antitrust, taxation, banking regulation, international transactions, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.

On campus, Arian is involved in the Institute of International Economic Law, the Middle East and North African Law Student Association, and the Antitrust and Competition Law Association.

Background

Arian’s professional experience includes working as a financial services specialist at Momentum Financial Services Group, founding a local small business and interning at the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation in British Columbia, Canada. Through his diverse work experience, he has cultivated a nuanced understanding of how businesses can deliver innovative client-focused solutions while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Before joining the Georgetown Law community, he completed his Master’s degree at the University of Chicago, focusing on International Political Economy. While at U Chicago, he also received a certificate in Markets and Regulation from the Center for Economic Policy and was a graduate affiliate at the Center on Democracy.

He holds a B.A. (Hons.) summa cum laude from the University of British Columbia, where he worked as a research and teaching assistant, served as editor in the Journal of Political Studies and was elected as the President of the Political Science Student Association.

Beyond Law School

Born and raised in Iran, Arian immigrated to Canada when he was 19. He now calls Vancouver home. In his free time, he enjoys reading Persian poetry, cooking, hiking, and swimming. Arian is a proud economic and political history nerd and collects different countries’ currencies and constitutions.
