Garrett Shaw
Garrett is a 3L student and a member of Cohort 6 in the Business Law Scholars program. After graduation, he plans to pursue an Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (EC/VC) practice in Austin, Texas.
At Georgetown, he is the Vice President of Finance for the Texas Law Club, a Student Ambassador for the Office of Admissions, and an avid participant in the Softball Club.
Background
Garrett graduated from Rice University where he earned a Bachelor’s in Philosophy and minors in Business and in Politics, Law, and Social Thought. During undergrad he was Student Manager of the Rice Owls Baseball team, and spent his summers as a International Affairs Intern with the City of Houston Mayor’s Office and as a Congressional Intern with Representative Sheila Jackson Lee in Houston, Texas.
While at Rice, Garrett founded Ponderosa Consulting, providing low cost services to help applicants navigate the complex landscape of law school admissions.
Garrett spent his 1L summer at Vinson & Elkins in Houston and his 2L summer at Latham & Watkins in Austin.
Beyond Law School
Garrett is from Houston, Texas. He enjoys the outdoors, baseball, aviation. Garrett also enjoys hiking and is attempting to climb the highest mountain in each US state. So far, he has summitted 40 states.
