Irene Chun

Irene is a 1L at Georgetown Law in Cohort 7 of the Business Law Scholars program. After law school, she would like to work in BigLaw and perhaps transition to in-house later in her career. She is interested in practicing both transactional law or litigation.

On campus, she is involved in the Georgetown Criminal Law Association as the Section 4 1L Representative, Antitrust & Competition Law Association, Corporate & Financial Law Organization (CFLO), International Arbitration Society, Student Intellectual Property Law Association, Women’s Legal Alliance, Women of Color Collective, Social and Professional Committees of Asian Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA), and Korean American Law Students Association (KALSA).

She is also an IIEL Fellow, a research assistant at IIEL and a legal extern working for the Tech Justice Law Project working on projects that focus on investment patterns, commercial diplomacy, tech policy, and regulation.

Background

Irene graduated from Georgetown University in 2021 (Phi Beta Kappa & the Donald S. Macdonald Prize in Korean Studies) with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies (Government & WGST) and Minors in Regional Asian Studies and Disability Studies. She then attended the University of Oxford as a MSc candidate in Sociology, specializing in Crime and Governance (Cybercrime).

At the University of Pennsylvania, she received a Masters of Science in Quantitative Criminology and was the recipient of the James Joo-Jin Kim Center for Korean Studies Fellowship as well as the Department of Criminology Merit Grant.

Irene has had experiences at both public and private institutions such PwC, the International Trade Administration and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, specializing in crime, international business, regulations, and data analytics.

Beyond Law School

Irene is from New York. She grew up playing cello and singing competitively at conservatories, and loves film photography and to read. Academically, she is interested in crime, regulation, fintech, tech, international trade. She speaks fluent Korean, English, and French and beginner level Japanese.
