Josiah Parkas
Josiah Parkas has a diverse background in business development, law, and military service. He is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor degree at Georgetown Law, where he is expected to graduate in May 2025 as a member of Cohort 6 in the Business Law Scholars Program. After law school, Josiah plans to join the mergers and acquisitions practice of a New York City law firm.
Background
Josiah graduated cum laude from Columbia University in just three years with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, where he received the 2021 Service Award and was a member of the Honor Society and Dean’s List for all three years. During his time at Columbia, he served as a mentor for Air Force recruits in Harlem, Queens, and the Bronx, and was an Executive Advisory Board Member for the Dean of Veteran Initiatives.
Before attending law school, Josiah worked as a Business Development Consultant at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP in New York City, where he helped lead the development of the firm’s internal company coverage software application and advised members of the partnership on new business acquisition strategies, tracking and predicting upcoming IPOs, and C-Suite relationship-building efforts.
Josiah’s military service in the United States Air Force included roles as a Staff Sergeant at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, as well as at Ramstein Air Base in Germany and Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. He received numerous awards and commendations for his service, including a Below the Zone promotion, the Airman Leadership School Salutatorian, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the 2017 Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year.
At Georgetown, Josiah has served as Vice President of the Military Law Society and is a member of the Georgetown Law Softball Team. After his first year of law school, he worked as a 1L Scholar at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and returned the following summer as a Summer Associate.
Beyond Law School
In addition to his academic and professional pursuits, Josiah holds a Future Labs Entrepreneurship Training Certificate from NYU Tandon School of Engineering and enjoys exploring his interests in single-family rental properties, triathlons, CrossFit, going for walks with his wife, backpack traveling, and Polaroid photography.
