The Georgetown Center for the Advancement of the Rule of Law in the Americas (CAROLA)
will be hosting the Conference of the Latin American Political Economy and Globalization
Program (LAPEG): “Towards and Inclusive and Sustainable Model of Globalization”, on April
19 th , 2024. Join us starting at 1:00 pm for a Keynote Luncheon Address featuring Ambassador
Kubiske The U.S. Senior Official for the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity (APEP)
from the Foreign Affairs Track of the State Department.

The LAPEG 2024 Conference will gather scholars, policymakers, and civil society leaders
working on innovative approaches to international trade and investment in Latin America. Our
goal is to build a bridge between similar conversations occurring in the United States, Europe,
and the Global South. The conference will discuss a concept paper and three policy briefs on
new ideas in international economic law and policy for promoting Latin America’s sustainable
and inclusive development. It will also convene an interactive workshop to move from ideas into
practice with the objective of shaping Latin America’s sustainable development efforts.

LAPEG is a joint initiative of CAROLA at Georgetown Law and the Centro de Derecho,
Regulación y Economía Sustentable from Universidad de Valparaíso.

The conference will take place at The Gewirz Student Center, G12, Georgetown Law Campus
600 New Jersey Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20001. Lunch and snacks will be provided during the
conference!
