Georgetown Law’s 2025 Climate and National Security Symposium

Location: G12
Date: April 7, 2025
Time:
Organized by Center on National Security and the Law

Georgetown Law’s Center on National Security and the Environmental Law & Policy Program are hosting a panel discussion addressing the risks that climate change poses to U.S. national security. As climate change worsens, threat multipliers compound risks to US national security. Officials at the Department of Defense and within the Intelligence Community have recognized and articulated this conclusion. The discussion will highlight perspectives on threats and opportunities from four spheres: defense, diplomacy, economics/resilience, and civil society. The discussion will cover areas ranging from threat multipliers, resource scarcity, climate violence, extreme weather threats, threats to force readiness, geopolitical tensions, economic risk, and resilience.

Accommodation requests related to a disability should be sent to gmb106@georgetown.edu. A good-faith effort will be made to fulfill all requests made.
