How does capitalism impact workers differently in different locales? What strategies do workers employ in response to corporate exploitation abroad? What happens when American-style corporate governance comes to town? The Workers’ Rights Institute is hosting trade union leaders from Inicjatywa Pracownicza (Workers’ Initiative), a radical trade union active at Amazon in Poland to answer these and related questions.

Moderated by Percy Metcalfe(3L), the panel will also discuss the role of lawyers in workers’ movements, the legal mechanisms of corporate power and worker resistance, and the extension of neoliberal governance to new markets. In addition to Workers Initiative national commission members, Agnieszka Mróz and Marta Rozmysłowicz, the event will feature political scientist Bartosz Rydliński of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw to provide a broader political perspective on Poland’s position in the neoliberal system and the concomitant implications for labor.
