Lessons from Amazon Workers Organizing in Poland
How does capitalism impact workers differently in different locales? What strategies do workers employ in response to corporate exploitation abroad? What happens when American-style corporate governance comes to town? The Workersโ Rights Institute is hosting trade union leaders from Inicjatywa Pracownicza (Workersโ Initiative), a radical trade union active at Amazon in Poland to answer these and related questions.ย
Moderated by Percy Metcalfe(3L), the panel will also discuss the role of lawyers in workersโ movements, the legal mechanisms of corporate power and worker resistance, and the extension of neoliberal governance to new markets. In addition to Workers Initiative national commission members, Agnieszka Mrรณz and Marta Rozmysลowicz, the event will feature political scientist Bartosz Rydliลski of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw to provide a broader political perspective on Polandโs position in the neoliberal system and the concomitant implications for labor.ย
