Please join Senator Elizabeth Warren and Nobel laureate Joe Stiglitz on Wednesday, October 25, 1:30-2:30 PM ET for a special event on the Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) regime. Georgetown Law’s Center on Inclusive Trade and Development and Center for the Advancement of the Rule of Law in the Americas, along with Rethink Trade and the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment have partnered up to release a comprehensive guidebook on how to withdraw from ISDS in the Americas and end its threats to climate resilience, public health, and democratic governance.

President Joe Biden has invited leaders from Western Hemisphere countries to Washington on November 3rd. This Summit provides a great opportunity to launch an Americas-wide ISDS exit. The Summit’s goals – creating a green economy transition and resilient public health systems and furthering the rule of law – demand elimination of ISDS.

Our paper, “Turning the Tide: How to Harness the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity to Deliver an ISDS-Free Americas,” provides the roadmap. You don’t want to miss this conversation, which will explore the legal pathways for using President Biden’s Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity (APEP) process to dismantle ISDS within the region.
