Bethany Lipman is an Associate Professor of Law, Legal Practice. Professor Lipman previously served as a trial attorney at the United States Department of Justice. After joining DOJ through the Attorney General’s Honors Program, Professor Lipman worked in the Organized Crime and Gang Section of the Criminal Division, where she prosecuted a variety of criminal enterprises for racketeering and other offenses in partnership with United States Attorney’s Offices around the country. She then served in DOJ’s Antitrust Division, where she prosecuted companies and individuals for criminal violations of federal antitrust laws. Professor Lipman tried multiple cases to verdict and received the John Marshall Award in the Trial of Litigation category, as well as a Criminal Division Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service. Professor Lipman was an adjunct professor at Georgetown prior to joining the faculty full time.
Professor Lipman clerked for the Honorable Mark R. Hornak on the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and for the Honorable Roy W. McLeese III on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center, and a B.A. in political science and English, summa cum laude, from the University of Vermont.
