Elizabeth T. Simon is Assistant General Counsel for Ethics at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP, advising on a wide range of ethics and compliance-related matters to support Akin’s offices worldwide. She is involved in issues impacting firm risk management and client relations, including resolving conflicts of interest, and developing policies to support ethics and compliance best practices.

Professor Simon is an experienced litigator, having spent her legal career representing clients in disputes involving legal ethics, insurance coverage, professional liability, intellectual property, and business torts.

As a legal ethics advisor, she has counseled lawyers and bar applicants on ethical and professional responsibility obligations and represented clients in bar investigations, disciplinary proceedings, fee disputes, and bar admissions matters.

She is a former Chair of the D.C. Bar Legal Ethics Committee, and the current Vice-Chair of the D.C. Bar’s Rules of Professional Conduct Review Committee. She is a member of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (“APRL”) and serves as APRL’s liaison to the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility’s Committee on Professionalism. She is a member of the CLE Committee for the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility and the New York State Bar Association Committee on Professional Discipline. She speaks extensively on ethics issues.

Professor Simon received her B.A. and M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania and her JD from Albany Law School.
