Frances Walters is Legal Director at the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project, where she supervises, investigates, and litigates DNA and non-DNA cases. Professor Walters is in her eleventh year of litigating innocence cases, having started as a member of the inaugural class of the Michigan Innocence Clinic (MIC) at the University of Michigan Law School where she graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif. She continued her work on innocence cases after joining the law firm of Williams & Connolly, successfully seeing her first MIC case through to exoneration. Prior to her legal career, Professor Walters earned a BS in Engineering from Princeton University and was a lecturer at the University of Cape Town. Professor Walters is a member of the Michigan, D.C., and Maryland bars.
