Greg Gonzalez is a former Senior Counsel in the United States Department of Justice Office of Professional Responsibility, where he served for 17 years investigating allegations of professional misconduct by Department attorneys. His work included major roles in high-profile OPR investigations into the prosecution of Ted Stevens and the federal non-prosecution agreement involving Jeffrey Epstein. While at OPR, he also managed the Departmentโ€™s nationwide docket of mandatory bar referrals involving misconduct by non-Department attorneys and served as the Departmentโ€™s liaison with all state disciplinary authorities.

Earlier in his career, Professor Gonzalez was a Senior Trial Attorney in the United States Department of Justice Civil Rights Divisionโ€™s Special Litigation Section, where he led investigations into patterns or practices of constitutional violations by law enforcement agencies and conditions of confinement. He previously served as a trial attorney with the Committee for Public Counsel Services in Boston, Massachusetts, representing indigent defendants charged with serious felony offenses.

During his time at the Department of Justice, Professor Gonzalez taught courses on professional responsibility, investigative practice, trial advocacy, and legal writing to Department attorneys. Earlier, while at CPCS, he taught statewide bar advocate certification courses on a variety of criminal trial practice topics and supervised law students authorized to represent clients in court under Massachusetts rules of practice.

Professor Gonzalez received his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and his B.A. in Psychology from Syracuse University. He is admitted to practice in New York and Massachusetts.
