John Mahon is an Adjunct Professor of Law and teaches a seminar on Takeovers & Tender Offers. Professor Mahon is also a partner at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP, where he represents private equity firms and other financial sector participants in a wide range of capital markets and securities law matters. He regularly assists clients in connection with the establishment and operation of business development companies (BDCs), registered closed-end funds and similar public and private vehicles with complex regulatory structures. His work in securities law and mergers and acquisitions includes advising both funds and investment advisers on strategic transactions, as well as in connection with both public and private transactions and related SEC reporting and compliance matters.

Professor Mahon is listed in Chambers USA and The Legal 500, and regularly speaks and writes on topics ranging from SEC regulations to public and private capital raising structures, 1940 Act regulated funds and M&A issues. Professor Mahon graduated from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown Law. Professor Mahon is licensed to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
