Jonathan Cohen has extensive experience advising and mentoring startups and entrepreneurs, as well as representing venture capital, angel and private equity investors making convertible debt and equity investments in early-stage portfolio companies.
Professor Cohen has worked as an attorney in private practice at an Am Law 100 law firm in their Venture Capital and Emerging Companies Practice and in-house at a NYSE-listed government sponsored enterprise.
Professor Cohen has served a wide range of startups and founders, including serving as transactional counsel for social enterprise clients and participation in multiple venture-backed company initial public offerings. He has also advised startup clients that have appeared on Shark Tank and who have won startup company competitions. Professor Cohen has been actively engaged in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, serving as a mentor and judge in startup and incubator competitions, serving on boards and committees for leading Washington, D.C.โarea technology and venture capital organizations, and speaking on topics related to entrepreneurship, corporate law, and securities regulation.
