Joshua L. Mogil is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center and an attorney at WilmerHale in Washington, DC.

Professor Mogil previously served as Senior Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General at the US Department of Justice. He also served in various roles at USAID, the US Department of State, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the White House, and at Capital One Bank. He began his legal career clerking on the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and on the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Professor Mogil graduated magna cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center and received his BS in International Politics from the Georgetown School of Foreign Service.

An active leader in the legal community, he also serves as the President-elect of the DC Bar, President-elect of the DC Bar Pro Bono Center, a member of the ABA House of Delegates, as a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and on the advisory board of the DC LGBTQ+ Bar Association where he previously served as president. Professor Mogil was recognized in 2025 as one of the 40 Best LGBTQ+ Lawyers Under 40 by the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association and as a LGBTQ+ Business Leader by the Washington Business Journal.
