Julie Ryan is the Managing Partner at ImpactGC, PLLC, a Washington D.C.-based transactional law firm where she focuses on advising impact-driven businesses and other companies on complex commercial and strategic business transactions, impact investing, cross-border negotiations, debt and equity financing, corporate structuring and governance, B Corp certification, regulatory compliance, and general corporate matters.
Before starting her own firm, Professor Ryan practiced with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and Clifford Chance in Washington, D.C., and as a corporate partner at the firms of Acceleron Law Group and Russ August & Kabat in Los Angeles, California. Most recently, she served as Chief Regulatory Officer and Deputy General Counsel for Northern Data AG, an international cloud computing company based in Frankfurt, Germany.
Professor Ryan also has significant experience both representing and managing technology start-ups and is the co-founder of AltaClaro, an innovative experiential online learning platform that provides attorneys with universal access to interactive, practical, skills-based training.
Professor Ryan received her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center (J.D., 1999, cum laude), and her undergraduate degree from Colorado State University (B.A., 1993, summa cum laude and valedictorian). She is an active member of the Women’s Bar Association of D.C. and the Global Alliance of Impact Lawyers, and currently serves on the board of B Local Mid-Atlantic, and on the DEI Committee at Women Owned Law.
