Justus Getty is an Adjunct Professor of Law teaching Intellectual Property Law. Professor Getty is Associate General Counsel at CleanChoice Energy, a leading provider of clean, renewable energy to American homes and businesses. Professor Getty was previously an Attorney in the Washington, D.C. office of Duane Morris LLP. As a registered patent attorney, Professor Getty counseled and represented clients in the acquisition of U.S. and foreign intellectual property rights, including patent rights in diverse technologies such as turbine engines, telecommunication networks, semiconductors, consumer products, and medical devices. He has represented clients before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and in intellectual property litigation before various U.S. District Courts. He founded the Duane Morris Green IP Blog, and was active in the practice of pro bono veterans law. Prior to his legal career, Professor Getty served as a nuclear engineering officer in the U.S. Navy, where he deployed in support of counter-narcotic operations aboard USS Rentz and in support of diplomacy operations aboard USS Nimitz. He attended Georgetown Law’s evening program while serving as a policy analyst on Navy staff in Washington, D.C.
