Justus Getty is an Adjunct Professor of Law teaching Intellectual Property Law. Professor Getty is also General Counsel of Skyline Renewables, an independent renewable energy company dedicated to creating long-term value through acquiring, developing and optimizing renewable energy assets. Prior to joining Skyline, Professor Getty was Deputy and General Counsel at CleanChoice Energy during a period of rapid company growth, complex financing transactions, and subsequent sale to private equity. Professor Getty was previously an attorney in the Washington, D.C. office of Duane Morris LLP. As a registered patent attorney, Professor Getty counseled and represented clients in the acquisition and litigation of intellectual property rights, including patent rights in diverse technologies such as turbine engines, telecommunication networks, semiconductors, consumer products, and medical devices. Prior to his legal career, Professor Getty served as a nuclear engineering officer in the U.S. Navy, where he deployed in support of counter-narcotic operations aboard USS Rentz and in support of diplomacy operations aboard USS Nimitz. He attended Georgetown Law’s evening program while serving as a policy analyst on Navy staff in Washington, D.C.
