Mahogane Reed is an attorney in the Appellate Section of the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division, where she litigates criminal cases in federal circuit courts. She was previously the John Payton Appellate and Supreme Court Advocacy Fellow at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., and an associate at Susman Godfrey L.L.P. in Houston, Texas.

Before entering practice, Professor Reed served as a law clerk for then-Chief Judge Carl E. Stewart of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and then-Chief Judge Brian A. Jackson of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.

Professor Reed received her J.D. and D.C.L. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, where she was an Articles Editor for the Louisiana Law Review and a member of the Moot Court Board. She also received an undergraduate degree from LSU.
