Matthew W. Howard is a partner in the Corporate Department, resident in Fried Frank’s Washington, DC office. Mr. Howard focuses his practice on asset management matters, primarily on advising sponsors on the structuring and offering of private investment funds and other alternative investment structures. Mr. Howard has extensive experience working with clients pursuing with a wide range of investment strategies including private equity/buyout, credit, real estate, infrastructure, energy, and various industry and regionally-focused funds. He also advises clients on employee investment vehicles, management company arrangements, carried interest plans and other incentive arrangements. In addition to his work with U.S.-focused investment platforms, he has advised sponsors of funds targeting Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Mr. Howard advises major financial institutions and prominent fund sponsors including Goldman Sachs, Bain Capital, Fortress Investment Group, Argand Partners, the International Finance Corporation and IFC AMC, among others. Mr. Howard is a regular speaker on industry topics and he recently was featured as a panelist on EMPEA’s professional development webcast “Changing Landscape of EM PE Fund Formation”. Mr. Howard is recognized by Legal 500 in Investment Fund Formation and Management: Private Equity Funds (including venture capital).
