Michael Skocpol is an Assistant Counsel at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., where he litigates civil rights and racial justice issues at both the trial and appellate levels. He previously practiced as an associate at Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP.

Before entering practice, Professor Skocpol served as a law clerk for Justice Sonia Sotomayor of the Supreme Court of the United States, Judge Cornelia T.L. Pillard of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and Judge Gary S. Feinerman of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He was also a 2019 Temple Bar Scholar.

Professor Skocpol received his J.D. with pro bono distinction from Stanford Law School, and an undergraduate degree from Brown University. During law school, he was Senior Notes Editor of the Stanford Law Review, Submissions Editor for the Stanford Journal of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, and participated in Stanford’s Supreme Court Litigation Clinic.
