B.A., cum laude, Dartmouth College; J.D., Order of the Coif, University of Virginia. Professor Cary’s practice focuses on criminal and civil trials. He has extensive experience representing individuals and companies before juries and judges. Professor Cary clerked for federal trial judge Eugene Lynch in 1990 and 1991. He joined Williams & Connolly in 1991, and became a partner in 1998. In addition to Professor Cary’s trial experience, he has been involved in a number of high stakes appeals. He has also represented clients in connection with investigations conducted by various government agencies, including state and federal prosecutors and the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission.
