Ron Katwan has been an Attorney-Adviser in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State since 2008. He currently works in the Nonproliferation and Arms Control section. From 2018-2021 he served as the Legal Adviser to the U.S. Mission to the European Union in Brussels. Prior to this overseas stint, he worked in the UN Affairs, the Law Enforcement and Intelligence, and the Diplomatic Law and Litigation sections. Before joining the State Department he was an associate at WilmerHale and Assistant General Counsel at the Federal Election Commission. He holds a B.A. in philosophy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, a Ph.D. in philosophy from Yale University, and a J.D. from Stanford Law School.
