Abdulla Janahi
was born and raised in Bahrain where he won the Crown Prince International Scholarship, awarded to the country’s top ten students. He graduated from Yale University in 2021 with a Distinction in Global Affairs at the Bachelor of Arts (BA) level. He was also awarded a Letter of Commendation for exemplary performance in advanced coursework. His Senior Capstone was conducted alongside UNICEF and AstraZeneca, investigating the impact and prevalence of noncommunicable diseases in Angola at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Abdulla has since gained professional experience on both sides of the Atlantic. He spent his first year out of school immersed in a research fellowship on Arab Politics in Washington, D.C. He paid particular attention to North Africa, tracking diplomatic tensions between Morocco and Algeria, electoral progress in Libya and constitutional amendments in Tunisia.
Abdulla then joined the International Growth Center at the London School of Economics. His research focused on scalable renewable energy solutions in developing countries. He authored a case study sponsored by The Rockefeller Foundation on energy access in The Democratic Republic of Congo. He then transitioned into a Senior Associate role at a renewable energy consultancy based in his native Bahrain. He also has past professional experience with the Bahraini Prime Minister’s Office, the United Nations Democracy Fund and The Soufan Center.
Abdulla can speak four languages and has lived in Paris, Istanbul, Milan and Siena in addition to the locations listed above. He has a global mindset and hopes to pursue international arbitration as a JD Candidate at the Georgetown University Law Center.
