Jasmine Shao
Jasmine Shao studied Communication and Applied Linguistics at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. As an undergraduate, she worked in arts education, teaching filmmaking, photography, and writing for UCLA’s Writing Center and Residential Life.
For several years, she developed a career as an educational YouTuber, in which she gained over 1 million subscribers, was interviewed in the Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times, worked on the McDonald’s Asian Pacific Islander scholarship initiative, and collaborated with education brands like CollegeBoard, Texas Instruments, and Pearson. In 2019, she published Study With Me, a book about bullet journaling.
After closing that chapter, Jasmine worked as a paralegal specializing in employment-based immigration for artists, performers, and other extraordinary people. She recently volunteered at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. At Georgetown Law, Jasmine is interested in international arts and entertainment law. She hopes to bridge her background in arts and media with legal advocacy to protect artists’ and entertainers’ privacy and ownership rights.
Jasmine is a lifelong Californian, growing up in Santa Rosa, San Jose, and Los Angeles. She speaks Mandarin Chinese and French. In her leisure time, she enjoys long-distance running, tattooing, and film photography.
