Rebecca Tone is a joint J.D. / M.S. in Foreign Service degree candidate at Georgetown Law and School of Foreign Service, passionate about the intersections between human rights, environmental justice, diplomacy, and international trade law.

Rebecca graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in 2023 as a member of three honor societies: Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Sigma Nu, and Pi Sigma Alpha. She majored in Culture & Politics, double minored in Environmental Studies and Russian Literature & Culture, and achieved proficiency in French.

Outside of her studies at Georgetown, Rebecca has worked at the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of European & Eurasian Affairs, the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, and WWF’s Policy & Government Affairs department. She has also served as a graduate and undergraduate research assistant, worked on a Congressional campaign in her home state of New Jersey, and volunteered at her local food bank throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rebecca has been serving as Georgetown’s MSFS Alumni Engagement Fellow since May 2024, and spent the summer of 2025 working at International Bridges to Justice (IBJ) in Geneva, Switzerland. In the upcoming year, she is excited to participate in the Environmental Law and Justice Clinic (ELJC) at Georgetown, and join Sidley Austin LLP in Washington, DC as a Summer Associate.

In her free time, Rebecca enjoys seeing plays and musicals, reading novels, exploring DC’s many museums and restaurants, learning new crafts (currently knitting), and of course, traveling!
